What if we were all brave enough to tell our story?
This is the question that's been driving my life's work since I started my career in media over 8 years ago.
So what's my story?
My curiosity for storytelling was really sparked long before I had to choose which professional path to take. And for all intents and purposes, I didn't choose it, it chose me. I think I was born with a love for storytelling. But it really began coming to life when I was about 8 years old, in the living room of my grandfather's house, when he would videotape me reporting the news, using the back of his couch as my anchor desk.
I wasn't aware of how foretelling these times were until later.
Today, I am a passionate and driven media connoisseur. Media is what makes me tick. My old stomping grounds really helped me to hone in on discovering and cultivating this passion. I graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Latino Studies.
I have extensive communications experience in news, media and public speaking and have been blessed to work at various outlets in Chicago including, Crain’s Chicago Business, CLTV, WGN-TV, Rivet Radio and WBEZ Chicago Public Radio,
I am also the co-founder of a nonprofit, the Angel Gabriel Foundation, in memory of my Uncle who passed away from cancer. The foundation’s mission is to offer essential support for the fight against cancer and beyond.
Combining my media experience, love for storytelling and passion for empowering people, I now serve as the Public Relations and Community Outreach Coordinator, and Spanish Spokesperson for the Better Business Bureau serving Chicago and Northern Illinois.
We are all consumers, and sometimes it's hard to know who to trust. I am so honored that in my position at BBB I can help arm consumers and businesses with vital information to further enhance trust in the marketplace, and utilize the vast array of communications skills I have been blessed to learn along the way to serve the communities within Chicago and Northern Illinois.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord. "I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you. I have plans to give you a future filled with hope." -Jeremiah 29:11
